This is a state qualification course for the Texas License to Carry and not a handgun training class. Make sure you understand how to SAFELY operate,load and fire your gun in a proficient manner in order to pass a shooting test, if beginner training is needed, please see the NRA Basics of pistol shooting ILT course or contact us.
The course consists of four modules:
This course meets NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Led Training (ILT) objectives, teaching basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to safely use a handgun; revolvers, semi-automatics, and others. Students get lessons in safety, gun handling, the various types of handguns, the fundamentals of marksmanship, various firing positions, shooting several practical exercises on the firing range, cleaning, storage, and a summary of handgun sports and activities.
NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home course is for law-abiding adult citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from this course.
Description: This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.
Prerequisite: Basics of Pistol Shooting
This class reinforces the fundamentals of tactical shooting and weapon handling under stress.
Texas Concealed Carry Academy will help you build the skills required to successfully employ these techniques in a tactical or survival situation. Speed, reloading, movement, stress, and accuracy are emphasized to create success on demand.
Learn close quarter combat techniques, How to build a winning mind set and learn how to respond to close deadly encounters.
Prerequisite: Basics of Pistol Shootin
This course is instructed in low light conditions and incorporates the tactical use of a flashlight and other lighting methods. The live shooting evolutions teach target identification and sighting techniques under tactical situations of limited visibility. The course begins just before dusk and introduces the student to various concepts of low light shooting in reduced and total darkness. Prerequisite: Basics of Pistol Shooting
Students participating in this class will learn how to effectively fire, reload and manipulate their rifle in a variety of different positions.
Our instructors will demonstrate and prepare the student to clear different malfunctions and stoppages and regain combat readiness effectively and in a minimal amount of time. Student will also be able to transition from rifle to carry pistol in different methods.

The student will have an understanding of the legal authorities pertaining to Security Officer Commission and responsibilities and will be able to demonstrate proficiency in techniques and tactics necessary to carry out duties as a Commissioned Security Officer.
This class is to recertify the Level III Texas Private Security Officer, The student will have an understanding of the legal authorities pertaining to Security Officer Commissions and responsibilities and will be able to demonstrate proficiency in techniques and tactics necessary to carry out duties as a Commissioned Security Officer.
